5 Outdoor Fitness Ideas

Summer is all about getting outside and enjoying the weather and mother nature.  For the outdoor enthusiast, it means getting away from all things urban which includes the luxury of fitness equipment.

Taking a road trip or going camping doesn’t mean leaving your fitness regime behind or having to pack anything extra. It’s just about being creative with what you have access to and using the great outdoors as your gym.


Here’s our top workouts to do outdoors:



Find a hiking trail that can push your limits a bit. If you are going to be camping for a few days, aim to pick a more challenging hike than the day before.


2.Bodyweight Circuit

You can easily get in a quick 30-minute whole body circuit with no equipment using your bodyweight!

  • Squat x 10-20 reps
  • Push Ups x 10-15 reps
  • Forward Lunges x 10-12 reps per leg
  • Plank x 30 seconds
  • Single Leg Deadlift x 10-12 per leg

Perform 3-5 rounds, resting 15-30 seconds between exercises, and 2 minutes between rounds.

*Make the exercises more challenging by adding a pause, or isometric hold at the bottom of each rep.




If you were able to bring your bicycles, then check out trails around you and find one each day that is a bit more challenging than the day before.

Download your favourite yoga app or if out of cell phone range, plan the yoga series before you leave.Find a quiet isolated spot and get your Zen on!


5.Hill Sprints

Find a mountain or a hill and run up it! This is not for the faint of heart and is a great challenge.  Aim for 8-12 sprints, with complete recovery between each sprint (walk down slowly and carefully), making sure you are completely recovered before sprinting again.
